Michael Biehn; Orinasa sarimihetsika sy famokarana tsy dia misy dikany

You may know Michael Biehn from his more popular roles such as Capt. Dwayne Hicks in vahiny, Lt. Coffey in The Abyss, and of course Sgt. Kyle Reese from the original Rakoto. Many of Biehn’s roles are leaders in the military, sheriffs, or other position of authority.  He has a natural commanding presence about himself which translates well on screen.  However, this veteran of the horror and science fiction industries has many other movies that fans of the genres would love!

Ao amin'ny 2000 Riandranon'i Cherry was released with an eclectic cast including Michael Biehn, Brittany Murphy, and Jay Mohr, as well as a young Jesse Bradford before Swim Fan came out two years later.  Usually you wouldn’t throw these actors together, and while Mohr definitely didn’t meet the caliber of Biehn or Murphy, the story line was still interesting, to say the least.

Michael Biehn is the sheriff of a sleepy town called Cherry Falls, but the town is about to wake up when a serial killer is on the hunt for virgin teenagers.  That’s right, virgins.  So what’s the only logical thing to do?  Take yourself off of the menu by hooking up at an orgy party of course.  Now Sheriff Brent Marken is in a race against time to capture this killer before his daughter (Murphy) or any other students are killed at the high school for keeping their virginal virtues.  Riandranon'i Cherry might sound ridiculous, but it’s an underrated slasher movie of 2000, a time before found footage films and torture porn.

Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s project mitoto trano features two films; Planet Fampihorohoroana ary Porofon'ny fahafatesana.  While still portraying a stoic sheriff you get to see an unexplored side of Biehn in Planet Terror, a little bit of comedy.  In the movie Sheriff Hague (Biehn) is in a feud with his brother J.T. Hague (Jeff Fahey) over his BBQ recipe that has made his establishment so successful.  It’s amusing to see the two brothers banter back and forth, and this is what separates this role from others Biehn has taken.

It’s been 33 years since many of us movie fans have been introduced to Michael Biehn in The Rakoto.  Despite being typecast he has survived in the two genres fans initially found him in.  Still he appears at conventions meeting his fans and making movies we enjoy.  Currently the actor is working on co-producing as well as co-starring in mpamono Olona faran'ny herinandro.  He and his wife have formed the production company Blanc-Biehn Productions which have also been involved in films such as The Farm ary The niharam-boina.  Check out their production company here!
